IOC Development Project

Introduction

The overall goal of this project is to help National Federations to develop a systematic and comprehensive training program for their National Teams in their respective countries.

The Vision of the project is that each participating country could develop their National Training System to a professional level which enables the member federations and athletes to participate in the Olympic Games.

In the project the ISSF Development Center in Kuortane, Finland operates as a training and education center for the shooting coaches of countries that do not have their own advanced training or education system.

The target group of the project consists out of coaches and other National Federation staff who are involved with the Training System. Each member federation can send one participant to the Project. Participation is free of charge due to funding of the International Olympic Committee.

The minimum entrance requirements for the participants are the following:    

  • possession of a Coaching License from the respective member federation of the ISSF or having attended a comparable educational programme

  • working actively within the Coaching and Training System in the member federation

  • a long practical experience in shooting sport.

The structural plan and curriculum of the coach education has been devised and developed by the ISSF Training Academy within the framework of the ISSF.


IOC Project 2009/2010 - Part I

IOC Project for National Training System Development 2011/2012

The next IOC Project for National Training System Development will be organized in 2011/2012. The programme will be conducted in two parts. Each part will comprise of home study, project work, monthly progress updates and a 4-day residential course in the accredited ISSF Development Center. Each part will end in a written examination conducted at the residential course.

Part I of the project will take place in the ISSF Accredited Training Centre in Kuortane, Finland from 27th November until 2nd December 2011.
