A new ISSF Coaches Advisory Committe was established, with the aim to represent the views of the international coaching community

The ISSF is pleased to announce the establishment of a new Coaches Advisory Committee. The committee’s role is to represent the views of the international coaching community and to act as a reference point of advice for the various committees of the ISSF. It is also a key goal of the committee to expand the coaching community through providing forums for meetings and discussion both at World Cup events but also, in due course, through an online community which will be hosted on the ISSF website.

The members of the committee are Gaby Buhlmann (ITA-SUI), David Johnson (USA), Ralf Horneber (GER), Cezary Staniszewski (ESP-POL), Gretchen Ewen (AUT), Albano Pera (ITA). Kevin Kilty (IRL) has been appointed Chairman along with Robert Mitchell (USA) as the ISSF Council Representative.

The first meeting was held in December to coincide with the scheduled ISSF section committee meetings. The outcome of the meetings were very productive with many key areas covered including:

  • The competition calendar
  • Competition management
  • Developing the coaching community
  • ISSF coaches internet portal
  • Committee attendance at ISSF events
  • Rules and statutes

During the two day sessions, time was allocated for each of the committee members to interact with their own discipline section committees to observe and provide a coaches opinion to proceedings if required.

The work of the committee will continue throughout the coming year with members hosting coaches meetings at each World Cup where the work of the committee can be discussed and the opportunity for international coaches to discuss areas of importance to them.
