The course has been in development for over a year and its purpose is to enable member federations to develop and manage their own training systems and to encourage the development of the shooting sports in their locality. Subjects ranged from talent identification, the construction of successful coaching teams and developing successful training sessions and saw all the participants actively engaged in workshops and lectures for four days.
Speaking of the course, tutor Mr. Kilty said "This course has been extremely successful in its primary goal of helping member federations to take ownership of their coaching and training programmes. We have worked with participants ranging from Singapore to Porto Rico during this course and I believe that through the enthusiasm they have shown and with the ongoing support of the ISSF Academy that we can help these federations to realise their potential."
Participants will return next year to complete the course with further subjects covering sports finance, performance planning and developing high performance programmes. This project was aided and supported by the ISSF and the IOC Olympic Solidarity programme.
