Skeet Men Day 2

Skeet Men: USA's Hancock leads the quali, Paris-Dakar champ Al-Atthiya in the top-3

XXX Olympic Games · London, GBR

Ready for the Skeet Men Final? The reigning Olympic Champ Vincent Hancock of the USA is leading the qualifications, with only 25 targets to go to the final. The 2011 Paris-Dakar winner Nasser Al-Atthiya of Qatar ranks in the top-3, looking for revenge after placing in 4th at the 2004 Olympic Games.

After the first four Qualification series, with only 25 targets to go to the final, USA’s Vincent Hancock is leading the match with a score of 98 out of 100 targets.

The 23-year old athlete is still the youngest and the fastest, even though, during the last 4 years, he has been unable to match the top results he scored during the previous Olympic cycle. The young World Record holder (he was the first to score 150 out 150 targets record in 2007), participated in 14 ISSF competitions since 2009, finishing three times on the podium, winning one match, and qualifying for the 2012 Games by winning the 2011 Pan Am Games. During the current season, he competed at the pre-Olympic World Cup in London, placing in fourth right behind the medalists after losing a shot-off to Brovold of Norway.

Brovold, Beijing’s 2008 Silver medalists, actually ranks in 21st place with 93 hits, after nailing a couple of bad 22-hit series, yesterday.

Denmark’s Andreas Golding follows Hancock in second place with 97 hits, while the Russian Champion Valery Shomin and the 2011 Dakar Rally Winner Nasser Al-Atthiya follow tied in third place with 96 hits.

The final match is going to take place at 14.00 London Time. Follow the match on www.London2012.com, and come back on www.issf-sports.org for event’s photos and stories after the match.
