In Memoriam – Josef Ambacher (GER)
The International Shooting Sport Federation joins its Member Federation, the German Shooting Sport Federation, in mourning the loss of Josef “Sepp” Ambacher, who departed this life on 8 September 2012.
The International Shooting Sport Federation has received the sad news of the loss of Mr. Ambacher, the President of the German Shooting Sport Federation, a Honorary Member of the ISSF, an esteemed colleague and a beloved friend.
Josef Ambacher served honorably and capably as a member of the highest governing bodies of the ISSF, its Administrative Council and Executive Committee, for 16 years. He was President of the Organizing Committee of the 50th World Shooting Championship in Munich in 2010, the biggest and best World Championship in ISSF history. He was unwavering in his support for the shooting sport in his home country and in the world. In 2010, in recognition of his many years of distinguished service, the ISSF General Assembly elected him as an Honorary Member of the ISSF, the Federation’s highest honor. We have lost a true friend whom we will always remember.
The ISSF President and Secretary General and the members of its Executive Committee and Administrative Council express their deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to the members of Josef Ambacher’s family and to the officers and members of the German Shooting Sport Federation.
