The ISSF mourns the loss of Dr. Carlos Boza Vega-León, a beloved and esteemed colleague, who passed away in Lima, Peru on 22 November 2012.  Dr. Boza actively served the ISSF for 18 years.  His service to his national shooting federation, Federacion Deportiva Nacional de Tiro Peruana, began many years prior to that.  He was first elected to the ISSF Administrative Council in 1994 and to the ISSF Executive Committee in 1998.  He was serving as a member of the Executive Committee at the time of his passing.

Dr. Boza was one of the ISSF’s most active senior officials.  During the last three decades, he frequently served as a member of ISSF Shotgun and Appeals Juries at ISSF Championships.  He also served as an ISSF Technical Delegate for several ISSF Championships.  He was awarded the ISSF Blue Cross, the ISSF’s highest honor for leadership and service, in 2011.

Dr. Carlos Boza is fondly remembered as an especially active and dynamic ISSF leader who always worked with the greatest love and loyalty for the shooting sport.  The worldwide shooting family mourns the loss of a great leader and a true friend of all who knew him.  The ISSF extends its sincere condolences to Dr. Boza’s family, to the members of his national federation and to his many friends all over the world.
