The qualification calendar for shooting sport is now defined: shooters born between 1996 and 1999 will able to qualify for the 2014 YOG at continental championships.
The qualification path of the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing for the shooting sport event has been unveiled by the ISSF.
A total of 80 quota places will be distributed in the next months, in the designed Continental Qualifying Competition (see table). One quota place is one starting position for the Youth Olympic Games, where shooting will be present with six events: 10m Air Rifle Men and Women, 10m Air Pistol Men and Women, and the two new mixed event in Air Rifle and Air Pistol.
All athletes, including candidates for NOC Universality Places, must obtain a YOG MQS to be entered by their NOC in the shooting events of the Youth Olympic Games.
Athletes who are born between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 1999 are eligible to participate in the shooting events of the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games. Only eligible athletes can obtain Minimum Qualification Scores (MQS) results or quota places.
MQS must be obtained in ISSF Championships or in ISSF designated competitions approved by the ISSF Executive Committee. MQS scores must be obtained between 1 April 2013 and 8 June 2014.
Furthermore, due to the recent changes in the ISSF rules, the qualification competitions will be organized either on full ring scoring or decimal rings scoring.
