Finals 10m Air Pistol Women

Kim Jangmi (KOR) beat Sun Qi (CHN) in a shoot-off for the 10m Air Rifle W Gold

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Fort Benning, USA

It has been a shoot-off to decide the brightest medal, at today’s 10m Air Pistol Women final in Fort Benning.

Korea’s Kim Jangmi won today’s 10m Air Pistol Women event, the first pistol match of the 2013 ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, GA, USA.

The 20-year old Korean shooter scored 199.6 points, beating China’s 26-year old Sun Qi by 9.6 to 9.1 points in a shoot-off for Gold.

Kim, a 2010 Youth Olympic Games Champion in this event, and a 2012 Olympic Champion in the 25m Pistol Women event, had already finished on the podium at the beginning of the season, as she pocketed Bronze at the first ISSF World Cup Stage of the year in Changwon, Korea.

Today’s Bronze medal went to Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic, 26, who had led the qualifications. With a final score of 178.2 points, the 2010 World Champion won her second medal of the season, following the Silver she had secured in Changwon, last month.

“It has been though. The new ISSF rules cancel the qualification scores before the final. All the finalists start from zero, so I had no advantage on the others.” Arunovic said.

“I am happy of the outcome anyway. I did not expect such result. I did not fell 100% confident, this time. I tried to calm down, and to follow my routine. I tried to repeat what I am normally doing in trainings, and luckily it worked!” The Serbian champion said.

The second Chinese finalist, Su Yuling, closed the match in fourth with 157.5  points, followed by Russia’s Svetlana Medvedeva, with 136.0 points. Germany’s Munkhbayar Dorjsuren placed in sixth, with 115.6 points, while Serbia’s Bobana Velikovic ranked seventh with 94.8 points. Following them, it was Galina Orlovskaya of Russia who placed in eighth with 76.2 points.
