China tops the medal standings of a “Fantastic event”

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Fort Benning, USA

The ISSF Technical Delegate Carlos Silva Monterroso thanked the organizers of the second ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage of the year, while officially closing the competition in Fort Benning, GA, USA.

This has been a fantastic competition, with excellent results, and an excellent organization.” The ISSF Technical Delegate Mr. Carlos Silva Monterroso (GUA) said today, while officially closing the 2013 ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, GA, USA.

The ISSF World Cup Stage started off on 5th of May, and the ten Olympic Rifle and Pistol events were conducted until today, when the event was closed by the last final, the 50m Rifle Prone Men, won by France's Valerian Sauveplane.

The Organizing Committee of this competition has done a great job, and I am thanking them in behalf of the ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña.” Mr. Monterroso said.

China atop of the medal standings

As it had happened at the first ISSF World Cup Stage of the year, in Changwon, Korea, it was the People's Republic of China that finished atop of the medal standings. Two Gold, four Silver and one Bronze medals placed indeed the Chinese team well ahead of their opponents, with a total of seven medals.

Serbia followed in second, with two Gold medals, one Silver and two Bronze medals won in both Rifle and Pistol events, and a Silver, thanks to the last-minute victory of Andrija Zlatic at today's 50m Pistol Men final.

Germany finished also on the medal standings podium, with two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medals.

The ISSF World Cup Series will now move on to Munich, Germany, where the next Rifle & Pistol Stage will be held at the 1972 Olympic Shooting Range from the 23 trough the 30 of May.
