Young shooters, new World Records: Sidi and 3 Under-21s

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Munich, GER

The records were set in two Men's Rifle events (10m Air and 50m Prone), in both qualification (P. Sidi and Yang H.) and elimination (J. Stenstrom and S. Kulish) phases.

4 new World Records: this is what has happened at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup held in Munich (GER) and ended just today.

Peter Sidi had a great 633.5-point score at the 10m Men's Air Rifle qualifications, enough to beat the previous World Record (631.9) he was holding. In the same event, the 17-year-old Yang Haoran scored 628.9 points, setting a new Junior World Record. Later on – in the final round - the Hungary's shooter won the Silver medal, while China's Yang made it to the Gold – giving a first hint of what the Chinese Team would have eventually done throughout the competition.

One record after the other (both Junior) were scored at the 50m Men's Rifle Prone final: Joni Stenstrom (cohort 1994) – of Finland - first got a new World Record (613.9 points), but was then surpassed by Ukraine's Serhiy Kulish (1993) and his 616.8-point score.

Definitely a good job from the younger athletes of the competition - the (present) and future of shooting sport.
