ISSF World Cup Final Shotgun · Abu Dhabi, UAE

The best 60 shotgun shooters of the world are here competing for the World Cup Title. The first medals will be assigned today at the Trap Women event.

The 2013 ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final officially kicked off in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where the competition is held at the Al Forsan International Sport Resort from the 23rd through the 28th of October.

Only the best 60 shotgun shooters of the world are participating in the competition, coming from 25 nations. The top-8 shooters in each of the five Olympic shooting events, selected through this year's four ISSF World Cup Stages in Acapulco (MEX), Al Ain (UAE), Nicosia (CYP) and Granada (ESP), will meet the title defenders and the three medallists of this year's ISSF World Championship.

The participants were welcomed by the Chairman of the UAE Shooting Association Ahmed Nassr Al Raisiand and by the ISSF Vice-President Medhat Wahdan at yesterday's opening ceremony.

“In behalf of the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and of the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber I would like to thank the organizers of this World Cup Final, in the beautiful city of Abu Dhabi. I wish you all the best success!” Mr. Wahdan said.

The first medal match, the Trap Women Finals, will take place today, starting at 2.45 PM (UAE time). The 2012 Olympic Champion and reigning World Champion Jessica Rossi of Italy will meet some of the most skilled shooters of the international circuit, such as Slovakia's 2010 World Champion Zuzana Stefecekova, the 2008 Olympic Champ Satu Makela-Nummela of Finland and the 2008 Olympic medallist Corey Cogdell of USA.
