European Championship 25, 50, 300m, Shotgun · Maribor, SLO

European shooters met in Maribor, Slovenia, from the 18th of July thorugh the 1st of August to secure the continental titles and the 21 Rio 2016 Olympic Quota places up for grabs.

The 365-days to Rio milestone is getting closer, and the process of allocation of the Olympic quota places for the fifteen Shooting sport events continues.

The latest competition that assigned Olympic qualification slots has been the European Shooting Championship in 25m, 50m, 300m and Shotgun events, just held in Maribor, Slovenia, from July 18th to August 1st.

The championship awarded Quota places for Rio 2016 in ten different Olympic events, excluding the Double Trap Men and the 10m Air Pistol and Air Rifle events.

The Russian Federation, Germany, Hungary and Ukraine were the four countries that got the most out of the competition for the quotas, gaining two each. Italy, Slovakia, Serbia, France, Greece, Spain and Slovenia collected one Olympic quota each, along with European Championship medals.

Six more nations joined the Rio 2016 club in spite of not winning any medal: Austria, Czech Republic, Georgia, Poland, San Marino and Great Britain.
