Japan finish on top of the medal standings as the Asia Olympic Qualifying Competition for Shooting goes in the books

The competition awarded its last medals and quotas today in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men and Skeet Men events. Japan claimed the top of the medal standings with 5 total Golds, also pocketing 5 Olympic quota places for Rio 2016.

At the end of the competition, Japan claimed the top of the medal standings with 5 Gold medals and 2 Bronzes. 2nd, with 3 Gold medals, 2 Silvers and 5 Bronzes, finished the Republic of Korea, followed by the United Arab Emirates, whose 2 Golds and 1 Bronze arrived entirely from the Shotgun events.

 

35 Olympic quota places have also been awarded, and once again Japan earned the highest number with 5, followed by South Korea, India and by the Independent Shooting Participant with 4.

 

The Islamic Republic of Iran is the only team that collected 3 quotas, while five different countries collected 2: the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Thailand, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Qatar.

 

Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China and Saudi Arabia got 1 each.

 

The 2016 season will continue with the first ISSF World Cup stage in Rifle/Pistol events, scheduled in Bangkok (THA) from March 1st to March 9th.
