April 6th is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

The International Shooting Sport Federation, as an active member of the Olympic movement, celebrates the third International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, promoting the shooting sport as a tool to drive social change and to foster peace and understanding.

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is an annual celebration of the power of sport. Creating an historical link to the first modern Olympic Games, April 6th was declared the IDSDP in 2013, and has been celebrated each year since 2014.

Peace & Sport, the foundation created in 2007 by former pentathlete Joel Bouzou that declared the first IDSDP, is still working to promote the practice of structured sports and physical activity as a tool for social change and community development; also to educate the younger generations and to help foster social stability, reconciliation and dialogue between communities.

april6.org is the platform for the expression, promotion and celebration of the initiatives that take place on this day. For more information, please visit www.peace-sport.org.

Events of different nature are expected to take place worldwide to support the Day, while the hashtags #IDSDP2016 and #WhiteCard is collecting tweets and posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many other social media.

As the governing body of shooting sport in the world, and as a member of the Olympic family, the International Shooting Sport Federation celebrates this day and the power of sport to encourage human development and peace.
