50m Pistol Men Junior
It took only 24 hours for Italian Pistol shooter Paolo Monna to double his Gold medal counts.
After reaching the top of the podium in the Air Pistol Junior event yesterday, in fact, Monna dominated the 50m Pistol Men Junior final, securing his second Gold medal in two days at the ISSF Junior World Cup.
The Italian youngster built an early, comfortable lead after the first two series, enlarging it until it reached the peak of 6.7-points after his fourteenth shot. A solid gap, that allowed Monna to maintain the lead despite missing the 10th ring with five of his last six shots. Monna then finished with 190.2 points, while Silver medallist Simon Weiss of Germany recorded 186.0.
Monna’s teammate, Alessio Torracchi completed the podium in 3rd place, finishing with 165.2 points.
Just outside of the medal positions, yesterday’s Air Pistol Silver medallist Gvido Cvetkovs of Latvia placed 4th with 147.5 points, followed by Switzerland’s Marvin Flueckiger with 128.7.
Despite placing three shooters among the eight finalists, the Russian Federation saw them finishing at the bottom three positions of the match: Evgeniu Borovoi placed 6th with 107.8 points, Alexander Bassariev finished 7th with 88.5, while Anton Zanin placed 8th with 71.1.
The three Russian shooters, anyway, consoled themselves with the team Gold medals, where they were followed by Italy’s Monna, Torracchi and Matteo Bertaiola, winners of the team Silver medals, and by France’s Remi Favier, Edouard Dortomb and Nicolas Thiel, team Bronze medallists.

10m Air Rifle Men Junior
Germany’s Maximilian Dallinger, the Junior European Champion in the Air Rifle event in 2014 and in 2016, pocketed the Junior World Cup Gold medal in Suhl, besting Russian Federation’s Vladislav Fetisov, who won the continental junior title in 2015.
Dallinger claimed the lead of the scoreboard after hitting three 10.8 in his first two series, and defending himself from the comeback of Fetisov, who shot an amazing series of consecutive shots in the 10th ring, but scored a disappointing 8.8 in a crucial moment of the match.
Dallinger’s final score was 207.9 points, while Fetisov concluded 3.4 behind at 204.5.
Hungary’s Istvan Peni completed the podium in 3rd position, finishing with 183.6 points and collecting his second medal in this Junior World Cup, after the Rifle Prone Gold he secured on Sunday.
Australia’s Jack Thomas Venning Rossiter left the competition at the end of the seventh series, being overtaken by Peni after hitting a disappointing 9.6-9.8 combination of shots. He then concluded 4th with 162.2 points.
Two italian athletes followed Rossiter, as Giuseppe Pio Capano concluded 5th with 140.9 points and Riccardo Armiraglio finished 6th with 120.1. Switzerland’s Christoph Duerr, who placed 8th at last year’s Junior Cup, slightly improved his result by finishing 7th with 100.0 points.
India’s Arjun Babuta was the first shooter to be eliminated from the match, placing 8th with 9.7 points.
On the team’s podium Hungary’s Peni, Peter Vas and Csaba Kovacs claimed the 1st step, followed by Italy’s Capano, Armiraglio and Alessio Barcucci in 2nd place, and by Germany’s Dallinger, Lukas Fischer and David Koenders, winners of the team Bronze medals.

10m Air Rifle Women Junior
Another Junior Gold medallist coming out of the European Championship in Gyor (HUN) secured the second Air Rifle medal of the day.
Anastasiia Galashina of the Russian Federation claimed the Junior Gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle Women Junior event, after battling with France’s Judith Gomez for most of the match. Galashiina grabbed the lead with an almost perfect 10.8 in her fifth series, shooting solidly for the rest of the match and concluding with 206.9 points, while Gomez, the winner of the Silver medal, finished with 205.8.
On the 3rd step of the podium, Galashiina teammate Tatiana Kharkova pocketed the Bronze medal with 184.4 points, followed by Poland Katarzyna Komorowska, who led the final at its earliest stages and concluded with 163.2.
Another Russian shooter, Daria Boldinova, placed 5th with 140.9 points, followed by Israel’s Tal Engler with 120.4.
India’s Aashi Rastogi and Italy’s Maria Schiava concluded in the bottom two positions of the final, as Rastogi placed 7th with 100.6 points and Schiava placed 8th with 80.0.
Also, the Russian Federation earned the team Gold medal, thanks to Galashina, Kharkova and Olga Efimova. India pocketed the team Silver medals with Rastogi, Dilreen Gill and Prachi Gadkari, while Singapore’s Tessa Neo, Martina Lindsay Veloso and Adele Tan Qian Xiu finished 3rd.

25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men Junior
The third and final event of the day crowned Poland’s Oskar Miliwek as the Junior Gold medallist of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event, where he bested Australia’s Sergei Evglevski after a thrilling head-to-head. When the Australian shooter scored a poor 1 on his fifth series, anyway, Miliwek shoved off, concluding with 29 points and the Gold medal. Evglevski final score was 20, with a disappointing 0 in his last series.
France’s Clement Greffier also starred on the Rapid Fire Pistol podium, finishing with 20 points after losing a shoot-off with Evglevski and receiving the Bronze medal.
Philip Heyer of Germany concluded his final in 4th place with 16 points, followed by India’s Shivam Shukla, 5th with 11, and by Ukraine Maksym Horodynets with 6.
Greffier was also joined on the highest step of the team’s podium by his teammates Nicolas Thiel and Guillaume Scire to receive the Gold medals. With them, as the Silver medallist team, India’s Shukla, Rushiraj Barot and Aadeithyaa Joahal, and as the Bronze medallist team, Russian Federation’s Egor Ismakov, Daniil Shikhov and Alexander Petrov.
