ISSF Academy finishes successful IOC/ISSF Training Systems Development Course

The course was held at the ISSF Academy accredited training centre in Bar, Montenegro, from October 12th to October 18th, and it was attended by twelve participants.

The 8th IOC/ISSF Training Systems Development Course was conducted at the ISSF Academy accredited training centre in Bar, Montenegro, between the 12th and the 18th of October.

The course was attended by twelve participants from member federations as far as India and Bhutan, as they took part in an extensive series of lectures and workshops whose goal was to aid ISSF member federations in implementing structured training and development programs.

Many of the participants’ experiences were shared during the group workshops led by ISSF Academy tutors Dr. Kevin Kilty (IRL) and Dr. Zeljko Todorovic (MNE). Lectures by the tutors covered areas such as building a coaching team, talent identification, high performance training systems, club development, training session development and financial planning.

“This course has now become a foundation for many of our member federations as they work hard to develop the shooting sports at the national level,” said Dr. Kilty. “The ISSF Academy strives to maintain a strong relationship with its member federations, in order to support them during this process, and we are delighted to see the fruits of our work in the increased number of participants in our World Cup events.”

Course participant Stuart Sylvester of Zimbabwe said: “The course was excellent! I found the subjects we covered very interesting, as they touched the very areas that I am working on. I learned a lot from the federations who shared some of their experiences, and that in itself was worth attending the course.”

The IOC/ISSF Training Systems Development Course has become very popular amongst member federations and it will return again in October 2018 for its 9th edition at the Bar Sports Institute in Bar.
