The ISSF Academy conducted a D-Course under the IOC Olympic Solidarity Technical Course for Coaches program, on behalf of the Sudan National Olympic Committee. The course was held in Khartoum (SUD) from the 15th to the 22nd of October.
The course was meant for Rifle/Pistol aspiring coaches and it welcomed 34 of them, including four women, coming from all over the country. The course was well received and helped Sudan National Olympic Committee and Sudanese Shooting Federation to develop sustainable training structure for the aspiring shooters through these trained coaches.
Mr. Hashim Haroun, President of the Sudanese Olympic Committee, Mr. Seif Hamid Merghany, President of the Sudanese Shooting Federation, and Mr. Muhsin Mehanni ,Vice-President of the Sudanese Shooting Federation, made sure that the course was conducted in order to provide an excellent support structure and an efficient training environment.
The course was led by ISSF Academy tutors Mrs. Pournima Zanane of India and Mr. Ahmad Seif Eldin Daoud of Egypt, and it included a series of lectures and technical workshops covering many topics: planning of training sessions, annual plans, organizing camps, physical training and other key aspects, all aimed at the development of shooting sport in the country.
The course was extensively covered by the national television, creating a strong and positive feedback for the activities of the ISSF/IOC Olympic Solidarity Department, the Sudanese National Olympic Committee the Sudanese Shooting Federation. Live interviews with the tutors were broadcasted in local news channels BeIn Sports and El-Hellal, while also appearing in a number of local newspapers.
Participants on the course were very satisfied with their experience. Noble Adam Mose said: “I was impressed by the quality of the teaching provided by the ISSF Academy tutors. I will benefit greatly of this course during the upcoming Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Argentina.”
