Final Double Trap Men Junior

James Dedman takes the Union Jack atop the podium, sets a new Junior World Record

ISSF Junior World Cup Shotgun · Porpetto, ITA

The talented Double Trap shooter grabbed his first international Gold medal in Porpetto, where he also set a new Junior World Record by scoring 70 hits. Finland’s Miki Ylonen placed 2nd and took Silver, while India’s Shapath Bharadwaj secured the Bronze medal.

With three Junior Silver medals and a World Cup Bronze under his belt, Great Britain’s 19-year-old James Dedman, current number 14 of the World Ranking, finally climbed atop the podium in an ISSF competition.

He did it in Porpetto (ITA), where the Junior World Cup is currently underway, and where he ruled the final match of the Double Trap Men Junior event from the very start, eventually finishing with 70 hits and the Gold medal around his neck.

Dedman also set a new Junior World Record, besting the 56 he scored at this year’s World Cup stage in New Delhi (IND).

Four hits away from the British placed Finland’s 20-year-old Miki Ylonen, currently ranked 59th in the world in this event, who pocketed the Silver medal with 66 hits.

After making his World Cup debut last March in New Delhi, India’s Shapath Bharadwaj (15) secured the first international medal of his young career by scoring 48 target hits and taking Bronze.

He was followed by two Italian shooters, 19-year-old Eraldo Apolloni and 15-year-old Marco Carli, both competing in their first international competition. After nailing the highest qualification score, Apolloni finished 4th in position with 40 hits, while Carli took 5th place with 29.

People’s Republic of China’s Qi Ying (20), Bronze medal winner at this year’s World Cup stage in Acapulco (MEX), placed 6th with 20 target hits.
