Finals 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men

Akiyama (JPN) marked 4 perfect series to win Rapid Fire's Gold

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Munich, GER

The Japanese finalist turned out to be simply unbeatable, hitting 5 targets in three different series. He had won also last year's ISSF World Cup here in Munich.

Teruyoshi Akiyama, 41, form Japan, won today's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men with 4 points of advantage on his followers.

The right-handed shooter from Sendai Miyagi outscored his opponents, finishing in first with 33 hits, and four hits of advantage on the Silver medallist, Zhang Fusheng of China, second with 29 hits.

The Japanese shooter had already won an ISSF Wolrd Cup Gold medal here in Munich, last year.

Akiyama was unreachable, today, marking a perfect score of 5 hits in four series out of eight.

Too much for Zhang, who scored only two hits in two of his eight final series. But still a great result for the 19-year old shooter, who had only participated in one ISSF World Cup Stage, before, two weeks ago in Fort Benning, finishing in forth.

“This was my dream since a long time!” Zhang said “I am so thankful to my coach and to my team. This is a big family, and their support helped me to get through this competition.”

Zhang pocketed the Silver medal beating Ukraine's Roman Bondaruk, who closed the match in third with 24 hits and the Bronze medal around his neck, securing his second medal this year, following Fort Benning's Silver.

The home shooter, 26-year old Christian Reitz, coming from a victory at the previous world cup stage, finished in fourth, today, with 19 hits. He was followed by Spain's Jorge Llames, fifth with 13 hits, and by Vietnam first -time finalist Thanh Kieu with 3 hits.
