Louginets (RUS) scored two records to win the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men final

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun · Munich, GER

The Russian athlete established a new World Record and a new Final World Record, finishing three points ahead of the home shooter Brodmeier. “I've got the power!”

Nazar Louginets (25), from the Russian Federation, won the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men medal match during the last day of competitions at the 2014 ISSF World Cup in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun events in Munich, Germany.

Louginets shot fantastic, giving no chances to his opponents. The young athlete led the qualification match, setting a new World Record of 1186 points, and then established a new Final World Record of 462.5 points during the final, leaving the Silver medallist more than 3 points behind him.

“This is great! I feel I've got the power to get ahead. The aim is clear: I am heading to the ISSF World Championship.” Said the Russian shooter, who had also finished twice on the podium at the first world cup of the season in Fort Benning.

“I will have three hard months of trainings, and I will participate in the ISSF World Cup in Beijing, to prepare for that.”

The home champion Daniel Brodmeier (26), currently ranked 12 in the world, tried his best to catch up the Russian winner. He moved into the top position after the Prone series, but he could not resist Louginets' high scores in the Standing fraction of the mach, eventually ending up in second place with 459.2 points.

Following him, today's Bronze medal went to the 2006 Junior World Champion Cao Yifei of the People's Republic of China, who placed in third with 449.5 points, beating his teammate Kang Hongwei (25), fourth with 438.3 points. The third Chinese finalist, Zhu Qinan (29) closed the match in fifth behind them with 427.7 points, while France's Valerian Sauveplane (33) took the sixth place with 417.3 points.

The two shooters who had led the Kneeling and Prone series, dropped at the bottom of the scoreboard at the first Standing series, and turned out to be the first eliminated athletes.

Norway's Rifle shooter Ole Kristian Bryhn – who also competed in the 50m Rifle Prone final two days ago - led the Kneeling series, and then slid down in second after the Prone positions, eventually placing in seventh with 406.6 points after the first Standing series.

Following him, the reigning Olympic Champion, Italy's Niccolò Campriani (26) finished the Kneeling position among the top-3 finalists, dropping then down in last place after the first Standing shots, ending up in eighth with 405.2 points.

The Skeet Men finals, the last medal match of this 2014 ISSF World Cup in Munich, will take place later on this afternoon. Check the schedule and follow the results live on www.issf-sports.org
