CAT - Presentation

The Shooting Confederation of the Americas (Confederaciòn Americana de Tiro - CAT) was founded and recognized by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) in 1973 as the Continental Confederation for the Shooting Sport for all countries of the American Continent.  The Pan-American Sports Organization (ODEPA/PASO) recognizes the Shooting Confederation of the Americas as the continental sports federation responsible for the technical control of the Shooting Sport in the Pan-American Games.

The CAT encourages and sponsors the organization of competitions and regional championships in the Continent and organizes the Shooting Championship of the Americas every four years, in accordance with the regulations of the ISSF and CAT.

The members of the Shooting Confederation of the Americas are the National Shooting Federations of the American Continent that are ISSF Member Federations and are recognized by the CAT and have paid an annual membership fee.

Our last General Assembly took place 3 November 2005 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, while the IX Championship of the Americas was held from 2-10 November 2005 in Salinas, Puerto Rico.
By request of the Brazilian Shooting Confederation, organizer of the next Championship of the Americas, we agreed on the convenience of changing the date of said event as well as of the next CAT General Assembly to November of 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
