Last ISSF Shotgun World Cup stage kicked-off in Lonato

The fourth and last stage of this year’s ISSF Shotgun World Cup Series started-off in Lonato, Italy, where 580 athletes are competing to qualify for the 2010 ISSF World Cup Final.

The fourth ISSF World Cup Stage in Shotgun events kicked-off in Lonato, Italy, on the shores of the Garda Lake, at the Trap Conca Verde shooting club.  

580 shooters coming from 79 countries met there to compete in the five Clay shooting events from the 7th through the 16th of June, trying to grab one of the last qualification spots to enter the 2010 ISSF World Cup Final. The fourth World Cup Stage of the season is also the last step on the path leading to the 50th ISSF World Championship in all events that will take place in Munich next August, where the first 2012 Olympic Quota Places will be assigned.

“ It’s an honour to host such a record World Cup! – Said the Vice President of the Italian shooting Federation - FITAV, Emanuela Croce Bonomi, speaking at the opening ceremony held at the medieval castle of Lonato – In behalf of the FITAV’s President Luciano Rossi I would like to welcome our athletes and our officials here in Italy. We wish you the best!” The ISSF Technical Delegate, Mr. Medhat Wahdan, followed her on the opening ceremony’s stage, officially opening the World Cup event in behalf of the ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, and of the ISSF Secretary General, Mr. Horst G. Schreiber.

The first medal match, the Trap Women Final, will take place at 3.30 PM (GMT+2), the 9th of June. The final round will be broadcasted live by Rai Sport, Italy’s national broadcaster, and by ISSF TV. Follow the match on www.issf-sports.org!
