IOC President Rogge will open the ISSF World Championship

The IOC President Jacques Rogge will participate in the opening ceremony of the 2010 ISSF World Championship in all shooting events, which will take place in Munich the 30th of July.

The IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge will officially open the 2010 ISSF World Championship in all shooting events in Munich, the most important shooting competition of the year and the first Olympic qualifying event for the next 2012 Games.

The opening ceremony will take place in Marienplatz, the heart of the Bavarian capital, on Friday 30 July, at 3.00 PM. The ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña, the IOC Vice President Thomas Bach and the President of the German Shooting Federation Josef Ambacher will be on the stage of the ceremony, which will also be saluted by the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, and by the Mayor of Munich, Christian Ude.

More then 2400 athletes coming from more 90 countries are expected to compete at the 50th ISSF World Championship in all shooting events, which will be held at the 1972 Olympic Shooting Range of Munich from the 29th of July through the 11th of August. There, the first 69 Olympic Quota Places for London 2012 (the “qualification tickets” for the next Games”) will be distributed to the best performers in the 15 Olympic events of Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun shooting.
