ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun · Sydney, AUS

She won her second consecutive Trap Women Gold medal with 89 hits. Olympic Quota Places to Turkey and Korea.

Alessandra Perilli of San Marino did it again. The 22-year old shotgun shooter won her second consecutive ISSF World Cup Gold medal by finishing on the highest step of at today’s Trap Women podium, at the 2011 ISSF Combined World Cup in Sydney.

Perilli had qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games just two weeks ago, by winning the first leg of this year’s ISSF World Cup Series in Concepcion, Chile. Today, shooting in a windy day on the layouts of the 2000 Olympic Shooting Range of Sydney, she nailed her second consecutive victory with a total score of 89 (68+21) hits. “But I am not getting used to it!” She said smiling.

She was followed in second place by Italy’s Jessica Rossi, the 2009 World Champion, who finished on the second step of the podium with a total score of 87 (70+17) hits, after shooting-off 1 to 0 the Chinese finalist Wu Cui Cui, today’s Bronze medallist with 87 (70+17) hits. The second Italian finalist, Federica Caporuscio, finished in fourth place with 86 (68+18) targets after missing her very last final target.

Two Olympic Quota Places, the “qualification cards” for the 2012 Games, were assigned at today’s final. As the first four finalists had already pocketed a quota before, the two Olympic spots went to Korea’s finalist Eom Soyeon, fifth with 84 ( 69+15) hits and to Turkey’s Nihan Kantarchi, who suffered the windy conditions during the final and ended up with a total score of 81 (68+13) hits.

The ISSF Combined World Cup in Sydney will continue tomorrow, with the Trap Men final taking place at 5.15 PM (GMT+11). Don’t miss the match, follow the shooting sport on www.issf-sports.org
