Five Gold medals, five countries on the highest step of the podium at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy, the last Shotgun World Cup Stage of the year
Five countries – Cyprus, Great Britain, Slovakia, Turkey and the United States tied atop of the medal standings, with one Gold medal each, proving the universality of the Shooting Sport once again. But this World Cup Stage also witnessed new events. For the first time, indeed, the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato turned into a stage of competition for disabled shooters, with more than 40 disabled participants coming from 8 nations, competing in dedicated categories, on the path of the memorandum of understandings signed by the ISSF and the International Paralympic Committee, and thanks to the Italian Shotgun Shooting Federation FITAV hosting the event.
The ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato was the last world-class match before the Olympics. Indeed, the ISSF World Cup Series for Shotgun events only featured three Stages, this year. The ISSF Shotgun World Cup Finals will be held in Maribor (SLO), from September 20 through September 26.
At the same time, the ISSF World Cup Series for Rifle & Pistol events continues with two more Stages to be conducted in Europe. The ISSF Rilfe & Pistol World Cup Stage in Milan, Italy, will start on May the 13th, while the last ISSF Rifle & Pistol World Cup Stage of the year will take place in Munich (GER) starting from May the 21st.
