Closing Ceremony

ISSF World Cup Milan “a success” ISSF Technical Delegate Brokamp said.

More than 500 athletes coming from 72 countries participated in the 2012 ISSF Rifle & Pistol World Cup Stage held in Milan, Italy, starting from the 13th of May, and which was officially closed today.

The competition, one of the last world-class international shooting meetings before the Olympic Games, turned into a success, both in terms of participation and results, as the ISSF Technical Delegate for this World Cup Stage, Mr. Jorg Brokamp of Germany, said.

 

“In behalf of the International Shooting Sport Federation, I would like to thank the Organizers of this event, the people who have been working with us in these days, and all the volunteers.” Mr. Jorg Brokamp, the Secretary General of the German Shooting Federation in charge as ISSF Technical Delegate for this competition, said while speaking at today’s’ Closing Ceremony.

 

“I would like to thank the athletes, who are the focus of our work. They have been competing at a very high level, here in Milan, making of this ISSF World Cup Stage a great competition.”

 

“The 2012 ISSF World Cup Stage in Milan has been a very good competition, in preparation to the XXX Olympic Games. The shooters are preparing for the most important competition of these four-year cycle, and we are keen in giving them the best conditions to shoot in a world-class event.” Mr. Brokamp added.

 

“Milan’s people have been very dedicated in delivering a high-class competition, and we have to look forward to keep on improving following a path of excellence and best practices.” The ISSF Technical Delegate concluded, officially declaring the competition closed.

 

“The outturn of athletes has been really positive.” The President of the Italian Shooting Union UITS, Ing. Ernfried Obrist, said today.

 

“We recorded more than 500 athletes coming from 72 countries. This is more than we expected, and shows us that international shooters like to come and compete here in Milan.”

 

“We were keen in giving everybody a good chance of competing at the highest level, and I think we delivered it.” Mr. Obrist concluded.

 

The ISSF World Cup Series moves now on to Munich, the home of Rifle & Pistol Shooting. There, the last ISSF World Cup Stage of the year will be hosted at the 1972 Olympic Shooting Range. There, the best shooters of the world will meet in the last world-class match before the Olympic Games from the 21st through the 28th of May.
