IOC President Rogge visits the Royal Artillery Barracks

IOC President Jacques Rogge visited the shooting venues accompanied by the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and by the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber.

The IOC President Jacques Rogge visited the Royal Artillery Barracks, today, to follow the 10m Air Rifle Women event.

 

Mr. Rogge was accompanied by the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña, and by the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber in a visit to the shooting venues. Then, the IOC President awarded the very first Gold medal of the XXX Olympic Games to China’s Yi Siling, the winner of the 10m Air Rifle Women event.

 

“It has been a great competition, in the true spirit of the Olympic Games.” The IOC President said, after the match. “We have seen a great moment of sport, here at the Royal Artillery Barracks.”

 

“It is an honour and a pleasure to host the IOC President here at the shooting venues” The ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, said. “The ISSF and the IOC enjoy an excellent relationship.”

 

“Shooting sport is assigning the first medal of the Olympic Games, this is a long-standing tradition.” The ISSF Secretary General, Franz Schreiber, said. “Today’s event as been an excellent sport competition, and the spectators really enjoyed the match.”
