50m Pistol Men

Preview: Jin (KOR) targets his second medal at the 50m Pistol Men final

XXX Olympic Games · London, GBR

JIN Jongoh (KOR) will be aiming to take a second gold of the Games, in men's 50m pistol, after winning the 10m event. Japan’s Matsuda is ready to challenge him.

Beijing 2008 champion Jin of Korea is a hot favourite and will carry the momentum of his victory in men's 10m air pistol last Saturday into this event. He also had a successful campaign at the recent International Shooting Sport Federation world cup in Munich, taking gold in both 10m air pistol and 50m pistol.

Japan's world champion shooter Tomoyuki Matsuda also aims to win his first Olympic gold medal in the men's 50m pistol at the Royal Artillery Barracks on Sunday 5 August.

Probably one of the most strong-minded shooters out there, Matsuda finished under the highlights dedicating his medals to Japan after surviving the Tsunami. He happened to be in the affected area for a competition. He managed to avoid injury and stunned the world by sweeping titles in the 10m and 50m events two weeks after the earthquake at the ISSF world cup in Sydney. The policeman participated in 15 ISSF events in the last four years, making it into 10 final matches, and winning 4 Gold medals, including the pre-Olympic test event in London.

The Final match is scheduled at 12.30, London time, don’t miss the event on www.london2012.com and on www.issf-sports.org
