Finals 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men

Reitz won his second 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Gold back-to-back by 1 hit

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Fort Benning, USA

The German Olympic medallist won his second consecutive world cup stage back to back by a narrow margin of one point.

“I knew exactly what I needed on my last series, and I did it!” Germany’s pistol shooter Christian Reitz said, right after his narrow win at today’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event at the ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, GA, USA.

Reitz closed the match with two perfect series of 5 hits and a last series of 4 hits, beating his direct opponent Roman Bondaruk of Ukraine by one points, 30 to 29 hits.

“I feel great. I did not expect to win the second ISSF World Cup medal  back to back.” 2008 Olympic Bronze medalist Reitz said. He had indeed led the previous ISSF World Cup Stage, held in Changwon, Korea, last April.

“The final has been difficult. I was meeting great shooters, and the weather conditions where not easy – so humid… But at the end I have a Gold medal around my neck - I'm happy!” 26-year old Reitz added, with a smile on his face.

Today’s Silver medal went to Roman Bondaruk, 38, from Ukraine, with a final score of 29 hits. Following him, it was China’s Li Yuehong, 23, who secured the Bronze medal, with 23 hits. His teammate, 19-year old Zhang Fusheng, at his debut at the ISSF World Cup Series, finished in fourth with 19 hits.

USA’s flag bearer, Keith Sanderson, 38, closed the match in fifth place with 15 hits, followed by Russia’s Leonid Ekimov, who was the first to leave the match with 10 hits.
