The Rio 2016 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games launches its sport pictograms, a milestone of the organization process of the next Games, which will kick off in 1000 days.

When the countdown to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games marks 1,000 days to go, the Rio 2016 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games has launched its sport pictograms, continuing the tradition of each edition of the Games defining the sports on its programme through graphic icons.

For the first time, all Olympic and Paralympic sports are individually represented. This is one of our unique contributions to the history of the Games,” said Carlos Arthur Nuzman, the President of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee.

During the creative process for the Paralympic pictograms, Rio 2016’s team of designers sought to portray the integration of the athletes’ different impairments with sport in a balanced, natural way, depicting prostheses, blindfolds and other elements.

As part of the celebrations to mark 1,000 days until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, a milestone which was reached this Saturday (November 9th), the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Government inaugurated today an observation tower at the Olympic Park. Standing nine metres high, visitors had a privileged view of some of the most important venues that will be used for the sporting mega-event.

The
Rio 2016 Games will take place from the 5th through the 21st of August 2016, while the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games will be staged from the 7th through the 18th of September 2016.

Shooting competitions will take place at the National Shooting Centre in Deodoro
. The National Shooting Centre was constructed for the 2007 Pan American Games to International Federation standards, is already used as an elite training facility, and will undergo minimal modifications for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The venue features permanent facilities for athletes and officials and fully equipped shooting ranges for all disciplines.
