Medal design competition to award trip to Lillehammer 2016 Winter YOG

A contest allows fans worldwide to design the medal for and win a trip to the next Winter Youth Olympics in Norway

Creative fans all over the world can design the medal for the next edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Lillehammer, Norway. The winning design's author will be awarded a trip to the competition, which includes access to the Opening Ceremony and sports events, plus a set of the medals he or she created.

The contest, launched yesterday by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will be open until June 1st, 2015. Designs can be submitted at the contest website medaldesigncompetition.com.

A panel will pick the winning design, and two runners up. The panel will be made up of YOG and IOC representatives--the "Young Reporters" (a group of 18 to 24 year old journalists that cover the YOG), the "Young Ambassadors" (athletes, sports coaches, students, and professionals aged between 18 and 25), and IOC members Claudia Bokel and Angela Ruggiero.

The winning design will be picked in late June 2015, and it will appear on the face of all the medals at the Winter YOG in Lillehammer from 12 to 21 February 2016.
