ISSF withdraws its SportAccord membership

The decision was taken by the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña at the SportAccord convention in Sochi, today.

The International Shooting Sport Federation announces its decision to withdraw its SportAccord membership.

 

The decision has been taken by the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and by the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber following today's speech of the SportAccord President Marius Vizer at the SportAccord General Assembly's opening in Sochi.

 

The ISSF cannot accept the positions expressed by the SportAccord President Vizer during his opening speech at the SportAccord Convention in Sochi, today. We do not share his negative evaluations on the governance of the International Olympic Committee.” The ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña said. “The ISSF fully supports the work of the IOC President Thomas Bach and we see the IOC Agenda 2020 as an opportunity for the whole Olympic movement.”

 

The ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber said: “The decision to withdraw our SportAccord membership has immediate effect, in accordance with Article 11.1 of the SportAccord Statutes, which states that a member may resign at any time. The ISSF fully supports the IOC, the Olympic Movement and the Agenda 2020.”
