The ISSF Running Target World Championship officially opened today in Suhl

The competition, taking place until July 23rd, will feature more than one hundred athletes, representing 20 countries. The first medals will be delivered on Sunday, July 17th.

The historic Waffenmuseum in Suhl hosted tonight the opening ceremony of the ISSF Running Target World Championship, which will take place until July 23rd at the Schießsportzentrum in Friedberg.

 

108 senior and junior athletes will compete in the following days, representing 20 countries and piling up total 108 starts.

 

Many of them stood behind their countries’ flags during the ceremony, while Mr. Gerhard Furnier, Vice President of the German Shooting Federation, welcomed the athletes: “I warmly welcome you all to the ISSF Running Target World Championship in Suhl,” he said. “This competition is back in Suhl after 30 years, and it is a pleasure to witness this fascinating discipline being practiced with enthusiasm all around the world. I wish you all a fair and successful competition!”

 

Mr. Furnier concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude to the ISSF President Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña and to the ISSF Secretary General Mr. Franz Schreiber, for the confidence and the excellent hospitality.

 

The first two medals of the competitions will be assigned on Sunday, July 17th, in the 50m Running Target Men Slow Run and in the 50m Running Target Men Junior Slow Run.
