50m Running Target Mixed Men Junior Stage 2

Ukraine’s Ihor Kizyma grabs his second ISSF World Championship Gold in two days

ISSF World Championship Running Target · Suhl, GER

The young shooter followed yesterday’s victory in the 50m Running Target Men event with today’s one, in the 50m Running Targeet Mixed Men, where he was followed by his teammate Maksym Babushok, 2nd, and by Norway’s 15-year-old Espen Teppdalen Nordsveen, who concluded in 3rd place.

Ukraine second day at the ISSF Running Target World Championship in Suhl has been even better than the first one, as two junior athletes concluded in the top 2 positions of the 50m Running Target Mixed Men event.

Yesterday’s Gold medallist Ihor Kizyma, in fact, claimed the top of the podium once again, scoring 390 points and pocketing his second Gold medal in two days in his second World Championship appearance.

“I’m pretty happy of this second Gold medal, and also of our team result. We don’t get the chance to train together very often, so it’s nice to reach a result together.” Said the 19-year-old after the award ceremony. “Shooting is a consistent part of my life, and I plan on keep balancing study and training in the future.”

Two points shy of Kizyma finished his teammate, Maksym Babushok, 17, who concluded with 388 points and earned the first Gold medal of his career.

Norway’s 15-year-old Espen Teppdalen Nordsveen, winner of the European Junior Gold in the 10m Running Target Mixed Men earlier this year in Gyor (HUN), completed the podium in 3rd place, finishing with 387 points and securing his first World Championship medal.

Kizyma, Babushok and their teammate Dmytro Melnyk also earned the team Gold medal for the Ukraine with 1148 points, followed by Germany’s Torsten Fass, Kris Grossheim and Felix Hoerning, winners of the team Silver medals, and by France’s Nicolas Tranchant, Eric Schuler and Fabien Le Brun, who finished in 3rd place.

The ISSF Running Target World Championship will continue on Wednesday with four medal matches: the 10m Running Target Men, scheduled at 2:00 PM (UTC+2); the 10m Running Target Men Junior, scheduled at 2:30 PM; the 10m Running Target Women, scheduled at 3:00 PM; and the 10m Running Target Women Junior, scheduled at 3:30 PM.
