3rd Youth Olympic Games · Buenos Aires, ARG

The Youth Olympic Games provided an ideal platform for the activity, which is part of the International Olympic Committee's Athlete Education Programme.

An ISSF “Focus Day” took place during the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, on the 13th of October, at the Hall in the Youth Olympic Village Square.

The Youth Olympic Games "Focus day" activities are part of the International Olympic Committee's Athlete Education Programme. Each International Federation (IF), developed different educational activities for athletes participating in the YOG.

The purpose of these activities was to promote cultural exchange, new knowledge, the development of new abilities and skills for personal and career development; while inspiring athletes with the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect in every educational activity organized by the International Federations.

During this activity, the ISSF legal counsel in anti-doping Janie Soubliere moderated a fun and informative session on both antidoping and the new ISSF Policy safeguarding against harassment and abuse in shooting sport with the help of ISSF Athlete Role Models (ARMs), Anna Korakaki and Federico Gil, and of ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and Secretary General Franz Schreiber.

Ana and Federico also shared their personal experiences with all athletes and coaches present at the event.

The activity included interactive and recreational exercises to create awareness of athletes’ rights, including antidoping control simulations, questions and answers about WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and dietary supplements and nutrition.

It was a fun and educational opportunity for all participants to grow together in a two-way learning experience, which saw an high participation of athletes from all over the world.
