Plans are underway to establish “more sustainable integrity and governance structures at the ISSF”, members of the Executive Committee (ExCo) have been told following their recent meeting in Rome.

The ISSF Secretary General, Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo, has written to all members saying the “wheels are in motion” to implement decisions made after the discussions held at the headquarters of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).

The “first step” has been the submission to the Association of Summer Olympic International Sports Federations (ASOIF) of responses to its Governance Survey for 2024.

“The moderation process will now be conducted by ASOIF and we hope to achieve a positive outcome from this exercise,” the Secretary General writes.

Subject to ExCo and eventually Council approval, the next phase in the lead-up to Paris 2024 will be to set up independent whistleblowing/reporting and investigations functions for integrity violations, to work on the design of a model for a Shooting Sport Integrity Unit, and to work on the development of an updated Shooting Sport Integrity Code (to replace the existing, but dated, Code of Ethics).

An ISSF integrity unit hotline has now been set up and is accessible  by phone, email and via the reporting page.
