Finals 10m Air Rifle Women Junior

YOG Air Rifle champion Hornung (SUI) won the Junior world title in Granada

51st ISSF World Championship All Events · Granada, ESP

Sarah Hornung of Switzerland won the title just 3 weeks after claiming the Youth Olympic gold in Nanjing.

Switzerland's Sarah Hornung won the 10m Air Rifle Women Junior title in Granada, today, at the 51st ISSF World Championship in all Shooting events, with 207.2 points in the final.

The 18-year old athlete had arrived here in Granada with a Youth Olympic Games Gold medal around her neck.

“It feels great to win this title. I can't really compare the Youth Olympic Games and the World Championship, I had the same feelings going into the final today.” Hornung said.

“The big dream is Rio 2016. I will work and prepare for that, and I hope that the dream will become true.”

The Swiss athlete claimed the brightest medal with a narrow advantage of 0.1 points, a very small margin if considering that the diameter of the 10th ring of a 10m Air Rifle target only measures 0.5 millimeters.

Martina Zivani of Italy took the Silver with 207.1 points.

Germany's Selina Gschwandtner pocketed the Bronze with 185.0 points, leading the German team atop of the podium (Gschwandtner, Nina Laura Kreutzer, Charleen Baenisch) with a new junior world record of 1246.5 points.

The Islamic Republic of Iran followed in second place with 1244.3 points (Najmeh Khedmati, Fatemeh Karamzadeh and Solomaz Nagiloo). Bronze went to Hornung's Switzerland (Sarah Honrnung, Vanessa Hofstetter, Nina Christen) with 1243.2 points.
