The IOC President, Dr. Jacques Rogge, opened the Forum welcoming the participants, and saluting the third edition of the Sport Accord/ GAISF IF Forum “This meeting is an important opportunity for all of us, facing new challenges year after year. This is the third Forum I attend, and I must prise the organizers for the excellent work they have been doing” he said, opening the Forum along with the GAISF President Hein Verbruggen and the ASOIF President Denis Oswald.
The role of youth in today’s sport panorama, the opportunities and the difficulties related to the involvement of youth in sport activities, were the topics of several presentations and workshops, as we are approaching to the first Youth Olympic Games, that will take place in Singapore, next year.
Generation of revenues, media coverage and venues management also finished in the spotlights during the IF Forim, with a special focus on the opportunities offered to International Sport Federations by internet and by the new social networks.
“The aim of the IF Forum,” said the Organizers “is to target the specific needs of Olympic and non Olympic International Federations, and to provide an educational package of conference content, based on topics of common interest to the federations.”
