ISSF President Luciano Rossi has honoured Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) President H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah with the President's Golden Medal of Honour before the opening of the 16th Asian Shooting Championship taking place in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
The ISSF President’s Gold Medal of Honour is an exclusive accolade awarded by the International Shooting Sport Federation's President as a mark of deep appreciation and recognition of individuals or organisations who have made notable contributions to the development and promotion of shooting sport globally.
President Rossi said: “I am delighted to be able to present this award to my friend and colleague H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah whose leadership of Asian shooting sport has been exemplary and contributed greatly to the ongoing development of the global sport. Thanks to his efforts, Asia is renowned now for producing many great athletes and as a trusted host of top ISSF events. This award symbolises friendship, respect, and our mutual commitment to the growth of Olympic shooting disciplines.”
The ASC President also showed his appreciation for President Rossi for his "valuable contribution" to Asian nations and the development of shooting sport on the continent. He then awarded the Asian Shooting Diamond Pin to the ISSF President as a gesture of unity and mutual cooperation.
