Angola celebrate 50th anniversary of independence with Shotgun Grand Prix

The ISSF sends its well wishes to the people of Angola on the 50th anniversary of the nation's independence, for which the country hosted the Grand Prix International - 50 Anos Independencia de Angola in celebration.

Men's and women's trap events took place at the Clube de Tiro Interclube Tekakuna Shooting Range in the country's capital city, Luanda.

Riccardo Faccanni of Italy won the men's trap final, scoring 44 ahead of South African D'Arcy van der Berg on 41. Van der Berg's teammate Cornelius Bornman won the bronze medallist ahead of the second Italian, Daniele Resca. Namibia's Giele van Wyk and Alessandro Espossitto of Italy were fifth and sixth. Emerson Gomes just missed the final, finishing as the top Angolan in eighth position.

The team gold went to Italy, followed by Angola and South Africa.

Italian Alessia Iezzi won the women's trap, scoring 108 for the victory. Ashley Holtzhausen of South Africa was second on 88, followed by Daniela Costa from Angola, who took the bronze on 82 ahead of her compatriots Jordana Reis and Rita Lemos.
