“World Cup USA a success” ISSF TD Carlos Silva Monterroso said

China finished atop of the medals’ standing, followed by Germany, USA and France.

The 2011 ISSF Rifle & Pistol World Cup in Fort Benning has been “a complete success, the best ISSF World Cup ever organized in the US, so far.” The ISSF Technical Delegate for this competition, Mr. Carlos Silva Monterroso, said right after the last final, addressing a few words to the athletes and the authorities at the USAMU ranges in Fort Benning, Georgia.

 

“The competition run smoothly, and we recorded some excellent results – the Technical Delegate continued – and we have to thank all the people involved in this excellent Organizing Committee and all the volunteers who have been making this possible.”

 

“It has been a great competition, with an excellent turnout of athletes.” The ISSF Vice President, and President of USA Shooting, Mr Gary Anderson added at the end of the competition.

 

“We have been learning from previous years, and we can state that this has been the best ISSF World Cup ever organized in the US.” The President of the Organizing Committee, Robert Mitchell, said.

 

The ISSF Rifle & Pistol World Cup in Fort Benning turned out to be a massive competition, with more than 600 shooters coming from 72 countries, an ISSF record event in USA.

 

The Chinese team finished atop of the medal standing, winning a total of 7 medals (3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze). Germany followed in second place, with 2 Gold  and 2 Silver, for a total of 4 medals.

 

The home team, USA, closed the competition securing 1 Gold and 1 Silver medal, tying France in third place.

 

The ISSF World Cup Series moves now to Munich, Germany, where the fourth and last Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage will be held starting from the 16th of June. Stay tuned on www.issf-sports.org for more news about the forthcoming events!
