Oceania Shooting Championship assign 18 Olympic quota places

The competition took place in Sydney (AUS), from November 25th to December 3rd. A total of 18 Olympic slots was distributed in the three disciplines.

Eighteen Olympic quota places for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games have been assigned in Sydney (AUS), where the Oceania Shooting Championship took place from November 25th to December 3rd.

 

As expected, Australia pocketed most of the slots, collecting 14 of them. The four remaining quotas was awarded to New Zealand, three, and Fiji, one.

 

Among the athletes earning an Olympic slot for their country, New Zealand’s Natalie Ellen Rooney, 2015 World Cup Bronze medallist in the Trap Women event in Acapulco (MEX), and Australia’s James Willett, 2015 Junior Cup Bronze medallist in the Double Trap Men event in Suhl (GER).

More Olympic quotas will be assigned at the African and Asian continental championships, scheduled in Cairo (EGY) in December and in New Delhi (IND) in January.
