Russia claims 6 individual Gold medals at the 10m European Championship in Gyor

Despite finishing on top of the medal standings, followed by Ukraine and Hungary, the Russian team didn’t collect any of the 12 Olympic quota places up for grabs in the competition.

The 10m European Championship in Rifle, Pistol and Running Target events closed yesterday in Gyor (HUN), awarding 16 total individual Gold medals, 20 team ones and 12 slots for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the four Air Rifle and Air Pistol events.

 

The Russian Federation concluded on top of the medal standings, piling up 27 total medals: 10 individual one, divided in 6 Golds and 4 Bronzes, and 17 team ones.

 

Ukraine placed 2nd, earning a higher amount of individual medals, 12, evenly split in 4 Golds, 4 Silvers and 4 Bronzes, and 10 team ones, for a total of 22 medals. Hungary, the host country of the competition, followed in 3rd place as the only other national team to conclude with a double-digit total of medals: 4 individual and 9 team ones.

 

Also, Hungary pocketed 3 of the 12 Olympic quotas up for grabs in Gyor, thanks to 10m Air Pistol Men shooter Miklos Tatrai, 10m Air Rifle Women shooter Julianna Miskolczi and 10m Air Pistol Women shooter Viktoria Egri.

 

Croatia and Poland collected two slots for the Rio 2016 Games each, while Georgia, Germany, Norway, Spain and Switzerland pocketed one.
