Hungary’s Boros leads the standings after day 1, So of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea stands atop the Junior event

On the first day of competitions at the ISSF Running Target World Championship, the first half of the 50m Running Target Men event took place, and Laszlo Boros of Hungary finished in 1st place with 298 points.

The senior and junior event of the 50m Running Target Men opened today the ISSF Running Target World Championship in Suhl (GER).

 

After the first 60 shots, fired towards the slow running target, Hungary’s Laszlo Boros finished in 1st place with 298 points, missing one hit in his first two series. Boros, 26, the 2009 Junior World Champion in this event, bested two Russian shooters who finished tied in 2nd place: 25-year-old Mikhail Azarenko and 29-year-old Dmitry Romanov, who both sealed their Slow Run part of the match with 297 points.

 

None of them, Boros, Azarenko and Romanov, never won a World Championship Gold medal in this event.

 

Four athletes placed in 4th position: 27-year-old Yehor Chyrva of the Ukraine, the two-time ISSF World Champion in this event Lukasz Czapla of Poland, 33, 43-year-old Miroslav Janus of the Czech Republic, and Joszef Sike of Hungary, 48.

 

In the 50m Running Target Men Junior event, then, 19-year-old So Kwang of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea finished the first half of the match in 1st place with 296 points, followed with the same score by Ihor Kizyma of the Ukraine, 19, 2nd because of his Lowest Value Shot.

 

Kizyma, Junior European Champion in this event in 2013 in Suhl, preceded his teammate Maksym Babushok, 17, who concluded 3rd with 294 points, and 18-year-old Valerii Davydov of the Russian Federation, 4th also with 294 points.

 

The Fast Run portion of the 50m Running Target Men event, both senior and junior, will take place tomorrow starting at 8:30 AM (UTC+2).
