In the fourth and conclusive event of today’s schedule at the ISSF Running Target World Championship, Hungary finally reached the top of the podium with Veronika Major, the 19-year-old who claimed her second consecutive Junior World title in this event.
After finishing the qualification round with the best score, Major beat Ukraine’s Yuliya Tymoshko in the semifinal, advancing to the Gold medal match where she faced and bested People’s Republic of China’s Ke Luqi with the score of 7 points to 5. Ke, who grabbed the Silver, earned the second individual medal in one day for her country.
Something unscheduled happened between the two semifinals and the start of the medal matches, as France’s Louis suffered a serious malfunction on her rifle during the competition, many shooters from different countries gathered to help her fix the issue and allowing the 20-year-old French to take part in the Bronze medal match, where she lost to Tymoshko with the score of 6 points to 4.
