More than 500 junior shooters ready to enliven world championship in Suhl

ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle / Pistol · Suhl, GER

The first junior competition of the season will be the ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol, taking place from June 22nd to June 29th in Suhl (GER). More than 500 shooters will participate, bearing 65 different flags and collecting almost 1000 starts.

“The main goal of the season for me is the ISSF Junior World Championship. It’s my last season as a junior shooter and I want to be remarkable,” said Hungary’s 20-year-old Istvan Peni one week ago, after claiming his first senior international Gold medal in Gabala (AZE).

Now, seven days later, the ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol is right around the corner: the opening ceremony is expected to take place in three days in Suhl (GER), where 543 junior athletes will be welcomed for the first junior competition of the season, representing 65 National Olympic Committees and piling up 978 starts.

It will be the fourth consecutive year for Suhl as the host of a junior international Shooting Sport competition, having already hosted the ISSF Junior Cup in 2014 and 2015, and the ISSF Junior World Cup in 2016. Also in 2016, the city in Thuringia welcomed the ISSF World Championship Running Target.
