Danka Bartekova named Vice-Chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission

The Slovakian shooter — who played a decisive role in the delivery of Athlete365 — will replace French canoe athlete Tony Estanguet.

During a joint meeting between the IOC Executive Board and the Athletes’ Commission in PyeongChang (KOR), former Zimbabwean swimmer Kirsty Coventry was appointed as the Commission’s Chair, while Slovakian shooter Danka Bartekova was elected as the Vice-Chair.

“It has always been my dream to represent athletes,” commented the 33-year-old Skeet shooter. “I think it’s important we communicate better and communicate proactively. The launch of Athlete365 is the first step in this process, but we must now push to activate the global athlete population to engage and strengthen the athlete voice.”

A three-time Olympian and Bronze medalist at London 2012, Bartekova played a decisive role in the delivery of Athlete365 , a new overarching brand that bring together all the IOC athlete-focused communication strands.
