300m Rifle Prone: Debevec and Bae pocket men’s and women’s world title

Slovenia’s 55-year-old Rajmond Debevec climbed on the highest step of the podium after, while Bae Sohee of the Republic of Korea won her first gold medal in her first final participation.

The two 300m Rifle Prone events were contested in the two past days at the Jinhae Naval Shooting Range in Changwon (KOR).

 

300m Rifle Prone Men

 

At the end of the six series, multi-decorated shooter Rajmond Debevec (55) finished tied at 592 points with Poland’s 33-year-old Daniel Romanczyk. The 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, however, fired 31 shots inside the 10th ring, prevailing over Romanczyk, who only hit it 22 times. Croatia’s 46-year-old Josip Kuna placed 3rd with the score of 590 ponts.

 

France secured the team gold with the score of 1761 points, followed by Switzerland and Norway, who respectively got silver with 1757 and bronze with 1755.

 

300m Rifle Prone Women

 

Republic of Korea 24-year-old Bae Sohee led the women’s event since the very beginning, eventually placing atop the podium with 592 points and securing the first medal of her shooting career. Germany’s Eva Roesken (34) took silver with a score of 588, while Silvia Schnyder Guignard (44) of Switzerland concluded in 3rd position with 586.

 

With a collective score of 1748, Germany took the team gold medal, while the Republic of Korea scored 1737 and won silver, and Switzerland placed 3rd with the same score but a lower number of hits in the 10th ring.

 

The ISSF World Championship in Changwon (KOR) will continue tomorrow with three more finals: the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women Junior, scheduled at 12:45 pm (UTC+9:00), the Skeet Men Junior, taking place at 2:45 pm, and the Skeet Women, scheduled at 4:00 pm.
