Finland’s Leppa and Germany’s Mueller win 300m events in Changwon

In the 300m Standard Rifle Men event, Aleksi Leppa secured the brightest medal ahead of Sweden’s Karl Olsson and Norway’s Odd Arme Brekne. In the 300m Rifle 3 Positions Women event, instead, Lisa Mueller of Germany took gold, followed by her teammate Jolyn Beer and by Sweden’s Elin Ahlin.

Two 300m Rifle events took place today at the Jinhae Naval Shooting Range in Changwon (KOR).


300m Standard Rifle Men


In the 300m Standard Rifle Men match Finland’s 24-year-old Aleksi Leppa pocketed the first gold medal of his shooting career, scoring 580 points and prevailing over 37-year-old Karl Olsson of Sweden, who placed 2nd with 576 points, and 34-year-old Odd Arme Brekne of Norway, who also concluded his match with 576 points, but finished in the bronze medal position because of a lower number of hits in the 10th ring.


Norway also won the team gold medal with a collective score of 1722 points; the Republic of Korea followed in 2nd position with 1711 points, while Switzerland took bronze with 1708.


300m Rifle 3 Position Women


26-year-old Lisa Mueller of Germany secured the World Championship title in the 300m Rifle 3 Positions Women, finishing with the same score of his teammate Jolyn Beer: 1161 points. Together, they also signed a new World Record in this event.


Mueller eventually took gold thanks to a higher number of shots fired in the 10th ring, while her 24-year-old rival pocketed the silver medal. Sweden’s Elin Ahlin (28) placed 3rd with the score of 1159 points.


On the team podium, Germany secured 1st place with 3469 points, followed by Austria with 3436 points, and Switzerland with 3429.
