The course took place over a four-days period in Santiago (CHI), and it welcomed 22 participants.

The Chilean federation — Federacion Deportiva Nacional de Tiro - al Blanco de Chile — hosted its first Rifle/Pistol D-Course, held in Santiago (CHI) between August 8th and August 11th under the auspices of Olympic Solidarity.

A total of 22 participants attended and successfully completed the course, which was led by ISSF Academy tutor Lisa Bogerson of Canada and Klavs Christensen of Denmark, respectively for the Rifle and Pistol discipline.

The lessons were held in English, with Spanish translation for both lectures and material.

“The Federation of Chile is very pleased and proud for have hosted the ISSF Academy D-Course for Coaches,” said Mr. Alberto Osorio. “Our thanks are extended to two excellent tutors, Mrs. Lisa Borgerson and Mr. Klavs Christensen.”

“During the last two years, our Federation has been carrying out programs in order to increase participation and develop the Olympic shooting sport in our country. And to achieve these objectives we have created schools and workshops in air shooting for young. All those reasons give more importance to this course, as it will allow us to make a reality for the all the clubs’ members of our federation to be able to teach to their own young athletes,” he added.

“I feel honoured to have been part of this process to support participants who came together and who were eager to further their goals and knowledge in shooting sport,” said Lisa Bogerson. “The passion and commitment shown by the participants are very encouraging.”

"I think there is a great unresolved potential among the young shooting talents in Chile,” added Mr. Christensen. “The best way to get the development started is to have good coaches. The recently completed D-Course is an important step along the way and the participants on the course showed with great interest and enthusiasm that they want be part of this development.”
